Project Objectives: To strengthen the capacity of provincial and local stakeholders to ensure schools are prepared for climate-induced hazards and can maintain learning continuity during and after emergencies.

Key program objectives include:

·       System Strengthening: Enhancing government capacity for Education in Emergencies (EiE) and green school initiatives in alignment with the School Education Sector Plan.

·       Evidence-Based Planning: Building the capacity of schools and communities for educational planning that ensures equitable access and quality learning.

·       Resilience Education: Strengthening risk reduction and climate resilience through targeted education and student-led advocacy.

·       Institutionalization of Safety: Supporting the rollout and institutionalization of the Comprehensive School Safety Minimum Package (CSSMP) and green school standards at the local level.

Key Strategies :

·       Alignment with Global Comprehensive School Safety Framework (2022–2030) and School Education Sector Plan (SESP)

·       Technical assistance and system strengthening for CSSMP institutionalization

·       “School as a Hub” approach for climate adaptation and community awareness

·       Adolescent-led advocacy through eco-clubs

·       Evidence-based educational and school improvement planning

·       Adaptive management and sustainability through existing community structures

Key Approach :

·       Institutional capacity strengthening

·       Community-based and adolescent-led actions

·       Integration of DRR and climate adaptation into education systems

·       Leveraging existing government and community mechanisms

·       Sustainability through Communities of Practice (CoP)

Major Activities :

·       Orientation of mayors, municipal officials, head teachers, and SMCs on CSSMP and green school standards

·       Technical support to update Education Disaster Preparedness Response Plans (DPRP) and School Improvement Plans (SIP)

·       Conducting earthquake and fire drills in schools

·       Student-led hazard mapping and installation of school hazard maps

·       Reforming and mobilizing secondary school eco-clubs

·       Plantation, waste management, and kitchen gardening initiatives

·       Behavior Change Communication (BCC) campaigns (“Bipad Sambad”) via FM radio and social media

·       Development of “Safe and Green Model Schools”

·       Learning and sharing events and establishment of Community of Practice (CoP)
